At The Peak of Light and Life
I painted this on the trail at Convict Lake, standing in stillness beneath a peak that seemed to breathe with me. The snow on its flanks looked inviting, not cold. The shadows carved into its rock edges felt familiar—like the quiet corners of my own mind. As I stared up, sun warming my skin, I noticed the same light grazing the summit. We were under the same sky, touched by the same rays, built of the same elements. I wasn’t just looking at the mountain—I was part of it. One with it. Made of the same atoms, the same ancient dust.
While people passed by, dogs paused to sniff, and conversations swirled around me, I painted. Not to capture the mountain, but to remember that for a moment, I was the mountain. The itch to climb I felt wasn’t about reaching the top—it was the call to return to something I already am.
36”x24” oil painting done on high quality linen panel, framed with a wooden frame in oak color and ready to hang. Done with all non-toxic paints and sealed with a natural varnish that gives a subtle lavender scent. Comes with a beautiful hand-signed certificate of authenticity
